Summary of the project
Nowadays, while the World is dealing with an epidemic that seriously threatens humanity, it also shows us the importance of global struggle, solidarity, and finding sincere solutions to problems together. This struggle should also be demonstrated against climate change. Climate change is not a problem from which a country can protect itself by fighting alone and it requires a global effort and cooperation in this respect. From schools with different geographical, cultural and educational backgrounds, we believe in the importance of developing a common attitude towards our students, and contributing to their level of awareness about climate change and its impacts, as the UN secretary-general calls “the road to no return”. In order to increase the awareness levels of our students and teachers about climate change and its impacts activities, we will carry out activitiies in partner schools and we are going to try to spread this awareness to all society through schools. In this way, we have a common goal of minimizing the damage that global warming will create on our ecosystem by increasing the sensitivity of young generations and creating a more livable future. In addition, strengthening the international capacity of our institutions, improving the skills of our students and teachers related to language and information and communication technologies, improving ICT technologies, understanding cultural diversity and ensuring a tolerant attitude towards different cultures are among the other goals of our project. Of the 120 students who will participate in the mobility of our project, most will consist of students who have limitations in their own lives and face some difficulties and 60 teachers will be accompanying. However, about 1000 students and 150 teachers will indirectly participate in a large number of people from families and other local communities. Two different activities, local and transnational, have been defined in the carrying out process of our project. Local activities are club studies, organic gardening, establishment of a domestic seed bank, research on endemic plant species, seminars, cycling festival, e-book, website and environmental dictionary preparation, poster preparation, etwinning studies, visits to recycling and wind energy plants, celebration of important environmental days, erasmusdays events and dissemination activities. LTT activities have been designed under 6 different topics related to climate change and its effects in each country. Presentations, workshops, classroom activities, outdoor activities (waste collection and sorting, picnic and nature games, gardening, trekking, common tree planting), use of web 2.0 tools, e-twinning, stem training activities, various experiments nd designs with recycled items, dried lake, farm made organic farming, visit to a wave power plant, geopark visits, project logo, posters, design exhibition from waste materials, visits to non-governmental organizations and public institutions, cultural nights are all the planned activities to be done during the mobilities. Active teaching methods and outdoor activities that enable students to learn by doing and living will be used as a method in the project. Accompanying teachers will also actively participate in the studies. As a result of the project, our students and teachers are expected to increase their knowledge, skills and experience in greenhouse gas and global warming, renewable energy sources, plastic products and recycling processes, the impact of climate changes on water, Biodiversity and ecosystem services, organic agriculture and sustainability. In addition, communication, cooperation, language and information technology competencies among our teachers and students are also expected to increase. In the long term, the project will increase the internationalization capacity of our institutions, ensure that they are model schools related to environmental issues, which will increase the quality of the schools and which will also increase the preferability of the schools.
